C > Chakras The Seven ChakrasBy: Elaine Murray Translated from the Hindi, Chakras means "wheels of energy." There are seven primary vortices in the human body, where we exchange a form of energy. When all seven chakras are in correct balance and alignment, we enjoy good health.
The base or root chakra, or grounding chakra, is located at the base of the spine. It is perceived as the colour red. The root chakra is associated with the adrenal gland (fight or flight) and governs the kidneys and spinal column. It is through this centre, one understands the physical dimension .
The second chakra is located in the reproductive organs. It is perceived as the colour orange. It governs one's creative attitudes in sex, reproduction, and relationships.
The third chakra is located in the solar plexus and is perceived as the colour yellow. It is associated with emotional issues, and the pancreas. It governs the liver, spleen, stomach, gall bladder, and certain aspects of the nervous system. A sobbing cry will massage the solar plexus reestablishing balance from an emotional overload.
The fourth chakra is located at the heart. It is perceived as the colour green. It is associated with the thymus gland. It governs the heart, blood circulatory system, and influences the immune and endocrine systems. It is through the heart chakra we "fall in love."
The sixth chakra is located in the centre of the forehead. It is seen as the colour indigo (a combination of red and blue). It is the centre through which we consider our spiritual nature. It is associated with the pituitary gland. It governs the lower brain and nervous system, the ears, the nose, and the left eye, known as "the eye of personality."
The seventh chakra is located at the top of the head. Its colour is violet, or sometimes the combination of all the colours: white light. It is associated with the pineal gland. It is the centre through which one may ultimately reach the feeling of oneness with God. The seventh centre governs the upper brain and right eye. Other Sections: |
